Apr 30: Chris Roca Eagle Court of Honor at 7PM at the chapel in McGimsey (next to the pirate boat)
May 7 Venturing training at Merit Badge University to be held at Coker United Methodist Church
Here is a chance to take any leadership Venturing course you wish: Time Management, Introduction to Leadership Course, Project Management, and others. Watch for Mr. Marshall's posts on the Venturing FB page
From that site"Venturing Specific Training will take place once again in conjunction with the Alamo Council Merit Badge University on Saturday, 7 May. Once again, Croker United Methodist Church has graciously offered us the use of their building to conduct our training. Time will probably be 9 - 3 with a break for lunch"
May 14 Government Canyon hike. Time and details TBD
May 16: Troop 285 Blood Drive. The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center will have a van at the Scout Lodge to collect blood from all volunteers. If able please participate in this worthy cause. To participate you must be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good general health. Donors must present photo ID< last 4 of SSN, and your birth date.
May 21st: Sell Camp Cards at Bass Pro Shops in The Rim from 5-9 pm. Let Ms Roca know if you wish to participate. Camp Cards are a great way to add funds to your Crew account. Since they are worth much more than they sell for they are very easy to sell, and you get to add $2.50 for each one you sell to your personal account with Crew 285 for great adventures like Philmont, Summit and Rocky Mountain!!

Venturing Week at the Summit, 2016
A fantastic opportunity! You get to participate in all the high adventure activities the Summit has to offer with fellow Venturers from around the country. Rather than wait in line with 50,000 others, like during Jamboree, there will be no more than 1,000 Venturers for this week.

Mr Marshall had an announcement about Merit Badge University coming up to be held at Coker United Methodist Church on May 7 from 9am to 3pm
Any course needed for advancement in any of the 4 Venturing Ranks will be offered (wow!)

Karl called for volunteers to help him during his service project at Morgan's Wonderland on April 23, scheduled at 0830, the same time as our hike.
Anyone not going on the hike is strongly encouraged to participate. BTW you will earn service hours. Everyone needs to fill out a waiver to participate; if you are under 18 makes sure to bring one that your parents have signed. Here is link to download the waiver.
Karl explained that this is the last "ticket' he needs in order to get his Wood Badge beads. He told us the you must complete five tickets in the 18 months following the Wood Badge course in order to earn the beads.
